Kindergarten Chemists!

Awesome Kindergarten chemists in the lab this week! We use labware found in a real chem lab - graduated cylinders, beakers, test tubes - but everything is plastic so anything can be dropped onto the floor safely! In this lesson, we discussed how scientists make good observations and predictions. Students were encouraged to predict the color created when 2 colors are mixed together - everyone loved experimenting on their own like this!

Carrot Update!

Back in September, we planted carrots (click here for blog post). Pulling these out soon, fingers crossed we see carrots and not just spindly roots!

Grade K - Ocean

Students in grade K recently wrapped up a fun ocean unit addressing this NGSS standard:

We discussed 3 different types of ocean animals: mammals, fish, and invertebrates. We made blubber gloves out of lard to understand how marine mammals keep warm in the freezing ocean:

 Then we learned about fish and the children made sharks:

Last, we discussed ocean invertebrates & made jellyfish:
