Grade 2 - Dinosaurs

We are traveling back in time & meeting some interesting reptiles of the past...
Microraptor - one of the smallest meat-eating dinosaurs (3 feet long). They were feathered and could glide.

Yutyrannus - a 30 foot long feathered dinosaur

Styracosaurus - 6 feet tall, 18 feet long! Plant - eater.

Apatosaurus - 75 feet long,15 feet tall plant - eater.

Corythosaurus - 30 feet long, 7 feet tall, duck- billed plant-eater

Stegosaurus - 30 feet long, 9 feet tall plant- eater, stegosaurus had been extinct for 80 million years before T.Rex came along!

Ankylosaurus - 20 feet long, 6 feet tall armored dinosaur with a club-like tail

Cultural Diversity in Science - Grade 2

 I wrote this lesson to emphasize cultural diversity in science. Every 2nd grader was given a little card with a scientist's name, country, and accomplishment on it. My hope is that the children will know that anyone  - boy or girl, from any part of the world - can be a scientist. These came out so cute!! I love the creativity!! And I loved the conversations I overheard in class as they were making these - so cute!! We shared the creations with the class and learned about each scientist. The projects are displayed on the bulletin board in the Science Center along with a fitting quote I found, "It takes a world of difference to make a difference in the world." Great job second grade!!
