Grade 2B - Simple Machines: Inclined Plane

My second graders are learning about inclined planes as a part of our Simple Machines unit. Here they are experimenting with ramp angles using a paper towel tube shoot, marble, and rock. The challenge: how can you use the ramp to make the accelerating marble propel the stationary rock forward? They are charting their data as they work - just as scientists do! They worked so hard to figure out the best angle, it is great to see their minds at work!
